Q1. What is the difference between a "Trash Bin" (also called a "Dumpster") and a "Roll-Off Box"? A trash bin is typically a steel container with casters so it can be moved from its stationary collection location over to the front-loading trash truck on pick-up day. It also may have lids to cover the waste collected. Trash bins, also called dumpsters by many, are widely used at commercial businesses, apartment complexes, schools and retail stores because of their manageable size (easy to place and store on site), durability and portability. The most common size for a trash bin, or dumpster is 3-cubic yards, which is why we have selected this size as the most practical for our standard rental bin service.
A "Roll-Off" box is a much larger container that requires a specially designed truck to deliver and pick it back up. Roll-off bins literally roll-off the long rails as part of the truck's rear bed each time they are unloaded or loaded. These boxes come in a variety of lengths (16', 18' and 20') having different sidewall heights to provide the different cubic foot waste content areas. The standard roll-off sizes we can provide for rental is 10-cubic yard, 20-cubic yard and 40-cubic yard boxes.

Q3. What are the costs to rent a trash bin, rent a dumpster or rent a roll-off box? Rental prices depend on various factors and in most cases, a phone call is required to get an accurate rental cost for either a trash bin or a roll-off container. Rental costs can vary due to the exact delivery location where the bin or box will be delivered to, as well as the type of debris that is being disposing of. In order to obtain an estimate, simply call one of our friendly staff with your zip code and the type of trash or complete the Contact Us form. If you're not sure about what size waste container you'll be requiring, let our expert staff assist you to calculate the most economical container for your clean-up project.

Q4. How can other services advertise lower prices, or higher tonnage capacities? Just like purchasing any other product or service the buyer needs to understand what is truely being offered. Many companies will advertise a low "flat rate" to entice potential customers to use their service, but by reading the fine print, pricing advertised may only be for the rental usage of the trash bin or roll-off rental container with additional fees to be added for the disposal of the waste contained in the container by its weight. In this form of billing a second charge is added and is usually referred to as a "dump-fee." The "rental+dump" type of services can actually end up costing you more that a quoted "all inclusive flat price" as we do at Serv-Wel Disposal and A-Rent-A-Bin. PLEASE NOTE: Even for "all inclusive billing," the flat-fee price is only good up to the gross weight allowable for the container size selected. Overage from our allowable container weight may still result in an overage fees. As for gross tonnage weight limits, many companies might be advertising the "maximum street legal gross weight" for their waste containers, but in reality the actual contract may list a much lower gross weight for what they are allowing. Any overages in weight between the contracted weight and legal maximum gross can be billed as an overage weight fee separately. |

When shopping for a rental waste container, you should be asking the following questions below and consider that the lowest price should not be the only factor in making your final decision. Other factors could benefit lowering the overall project clean-up cost (i.e. If a service can deliver a roll-off box the same or next day while your crew is still on site, this can save you from having to call them back if the delivery was delayed 2-3 days later. After all, time is money). a.) How much time is included in the price of the rental bin/roll-off and what will it cost if the waste container is needed for a longer period of time? b.) How much weight is included for the container I am renting and what are the costs if I fill it over the weight limit? At A RENT-A-BIN our standard weight limits are: c.) Are there any other fees that may be imposed I should know about in advance? Additional charges may apply if you need the trash bin or roll off dumpster for a longer period than the standard rental period. Also additional charges will usually apply if your trash bin or roll-off container 'weighs in' heavier than the weight that is posted as the maximum limit for that container size. Each trash bin (dumpster) and roll-off box is weighed before it is dumped and A Rent-A-Bin pays the landfill or transfer station based on the weight of the content. If your waste is heavier than the allotted weight for your rental container size, then a "per ton overage" fee will likely be applied and back-charged. Pricing for the overage can vary depending on the city where the container was used. Always pay particular attention to the amount of weight your clean-up project will be generating. If you are disposing of heavy construction debris like bricks, cement, roofing shingles, or demolition debris, the appropriate sized container should be ordered and not over-filled. For residential clean-ups, it's usually less critical since miscellaneous household debris, is not as heavy and will typically not exceed the 800-lb weight limit for the 3-cubic yard trash bins. |

Q6. How can I pay for my rented trash dumpster or roll-off box? We accept payment in the form of VISA, MasterCard and Discover credit cards for all residential customers and first-time commercial customers. Commercial clients with a previous history and are in good standing can make payments with a company check, or be billed Net-30 if they have an approved credit account on file with us. |

Q7. Do you recycle my collected waste? A Rent-A-Bin and Serv-Wel Disposal have business relations with many local Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) and smaller recycling facilities in the area. Depending on the content of the collected waste, it may be suitable to transfer some of that waste to specific recycling facilities for further processing. We can only make a determination after inspecting the contents of the waste container once it has been picked-up from the job-site. Our goal is always to recycle as much collected waste as possible and as practical for the good of our environment. |
